Gamble Plantation Historic State Park located at 3708 Patten Avenue in Ellenton. The plantation cultivated and harvested sugar cane. Gamble Plantation the only antebellum mansion that exists in south Florida.
Major Robert Gamble, Jr., a single man, bought 3,500 acres. The house took six years to build using slave labor and local artisans. Due to natural disasters and a changeable sugar market, he sold the plantation in the late 1850s. The day that we went women were dressed in period clothing for a photo shoot.
